Easy MIDI-IF

MIDI Connector
MIDI-IF pCB

My friend RJB make Easy MIDI-IF. And I re-Try his project. I made it smaller than his to put into SX-150 inside. But there is no room for MIDI Connector at the SX-150. I do nothing special and just do as is.

In demonstoration pages, I put the sound with this and Videos Check them out also!

about programs

MIDI Connector
DIN 5 PIN scructure for MIDI connector

about software, I download from RJB's site and put into the AVR STUDIO and build it. I write the hex files to the CPU. Thank you RJB for nice programs!

Program is so simple way. I also had wrote software for small CPU about the MIDI. Chack's project for MIDI-CV converter inspaired me so deeply. He intended that use them in Object Oriented style. I wrote same way. but my code is grown up to the limit of the code size and there is no space for applications.
simpleness of RJB's prgram is amazing.
the picture is for MIDI connector. it's from panel side. It's structrue make me wonder always. it's just reminder for me.

parts list

All the parts that RJB choose is easy to get here in Japan. We can get them online shop or so. RJB assign TLP552 etc for photo coupper in his schematics but in his picture there is PC910. I use 6N138 for it. Any one are pin compatible each other and it's ok for this application.

About CPU, He use ATtiny2313. It's getting easy to get here in Japan. It just cost $1 or so.
I don't put ISP port to write program to the CPU. We need another platform to do it. Just a bread board or something is enough for this.I write another page for writing programs to the chip in Japanese. But you can fined any page in English or so. Goggle them!
RJB assign ceralock for clock generator, but Just only write progarm to the chip, there is no need for clocks untill you change its fuse bits.First, Write programs to the chip, then write fuse bits. It should be OK. but next if you want to change the program, you need clocks on the bread board.

it works just 2 octarves or so. We need re-tune for another octarves. because there is no gard for tempriture drifftings at the VCO of SX-150. We need another tuning knob settings for another octarves or not easy mods direct on the SX-150. Gan who designed SX-150 anounced about fixing the hole about tempriture driffings. We all waiting about it.
